March 29, 2020 Parents & Guardians, As we enter the next three weeks (at the minimum) of off-site instruction, I wanted to share an update with you all. Teachers will be reaching out to each student (and/or parents of younger students) each week, and if you or your child has not heard from a teacher, please reach out to them through email or contact your child’s school building to update your preferred contact information. Building staff will then notify the teacher that you’ve been having trouble connecting with him/her. Our educators are going to be trying lots of new ways to deliver instruction from a distance. I appreciate your patience and understanding as we work out systems that work for all our kids. Just like in the regular classroom, there is no one-size-fits-all approach in this scenario, so it is going to take some grace and understanding on all our parts to continue to engage our students during this difficult time. Below are a few points I want to emphasize as we go into this week: This week we will continue the daily meal-pickups for students -- accessible by driving through the Hackler Intermediate School 3rd Grade Drop Off Line (on the right side of the building). Pick-Up Breakfast will be available from 8-9 a.m. and Pick-Up Lunch will be available from 11:30-12:30. Parents of students who need meals delivered can contact the transportation department at 425-1240 during school hours to schedule those deliveries. If you already scheduled meal deliveries before Spring Break, you do not need to call and schedule again. You’re already on the list. We will also deliver the printed resources we have created for students without Internet access on Mondays and pick them up for grading/recording on Fridays. Parents of students who need those printed resources instead of digital lessons should contact teachers or school buildings to request those. Students who need to check out a device or need to trade in a device that is not working properly may do so each Tuesday (during our closure) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the MHHS front lobby (located at 500 Bomber Blvd.). Tech questions for students and parents can be answered by our technology staff during school hours at 425-2549 or by emailing technology@mhbombers.com. Arkansas PBS and Team Digital have created resources for students and parents for all grade levels of AMI work. Those resources are available here. We’re doing an AMI Selfie Challenge this week for students and staff. You’ll find the details here. If you have questions or feedback about our AMI days, call your child’s school building during school hours or email your child’s teacher(s) or administrators. Thank you, Dr. Jake Long Superintendent Mountain Home Public Schools
