Graduate Requirements

Mountain Home High School offers three graduate programs: 

  1. Core Diploma
  2. Smart Core Diploma
  3. Smart Core with Honors Diploma

 

Core Diploma – 24 credits must be earned as described below

A total of 24 credits must be earned in grades nine through twelve with a cumulative GPA of 1.0 to receive a General Diploma from Mountain Home High School.  Each semester of a course counts 1/2 credit.  The 24 credits (21 must be non-P.E.) must include the following:

4 credits English
3 credits of Social Studies (U.S. History, World History, Civics/American Government)
3 credits of Science (1 credit must be Biology and 1 credit must be a Physical Science)
4 credits of Math (1 credit must be Algebra I or Algebra A and Algebra B and one credit must be Geometry or Invest. geometry)
1 credit Practical Arts
1/2 credit Physical Education (must be a  recognized Physical Education course)
1/2 credit Fine Arts
1/2 credit Speech
1/2 credit Health

 

Smart Core Diploma - will be awarded if a student earns at least 26 credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 and completes the following additional requirements above the General Diploma: 

Science - must include Physical Science, Biology, and either Chemistry or Physics

Social Studies – 1 credit of United States History, .5 credit of Contemporary United State History, 1 credit of Civics/Government, and 1 credit of World History

Math -  Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and a fourth credit beyond Algebra II

Foreign language - 2 years of the same language

 

Smart Core with Honors Diploma - will be awarded if a student meets the requirements for the Smart Core Diploma in addition to completing at least two AP courses and a cumulative GPA of 3.5
